What is a chocolate cake?      [back to top]

A chocolate cake is covered in Belgian chocolate which is available in white, milk or dark chocolate. You can choose a cigarillo style (tube effect) or smooth style Belgium chocolate. The cake on the inside can be any sponge, see our filling section to see the choice of sponges. Chocolate cakes are generally covered using fresh flowers and are available in a variety of colors.

What is a royal icing cake?       [back to top]

A traditional royal icing cake using marzipan and icing. The exterior of the cake is covered in a layer of Marzipan then a layer of traditional Royal Icing. The interior of the cake can be filled with any sponge. Royal icing cakes can be decorated in either Sugar flowers which are edible of fresh flowers.

What is a fountain cake?       [back to top]

A chocolate or royal icing cake with a water fountain as a feature. There is no extra charge for this style of cake, but there may be an additional deposit on the water fountain. Once returned after the wedding we will return your deposit.

How many tiers do I need?      [back to top]

The number of tiers you will need will depend on the number of guests you have at the wedding. We recommend you get a cake enough for 2/3 of your guest list. See our serving section for more details – [Cake Servings].
Wedding cakes with more tiers give you a grander display.  It is better to go for a wedding cake with more tiers. A 3 tier large and a 4 tier medium serves the same number of guests but a 4 tier will look more impressive on display then a 3 tier. Some of our cakes are available in up to 10 tiers. We can custom make cakes up to 20 tiers.

How many servings do you need?      [back to top]

At weddings generally not all guests have cake. Cake is generally served at the end of the evening with tea and coffee, by this time most of your guests are full with a 3-5 course meal. Also at the point of tea and coffee not all guests are seated, some guests are dancing, some have left etc.
We recommend you get a cake for at least two thirds of guests. So if you have 300 guests you get a cake enough for 200 guests. However this varies from wedding to wedding.  In some weddings clients tend to keep 1 tier so therefore you need to take this into account, Some weddings serve the wedding cake as desert, the portion size will need to be bigger. Please see our serving section for full analysis and sizes of portions - [Cake Servings].

What fillings can you have inside the cake      [back to top]

We have 12 different types of fillings you can choose from for the inside of the cake, Please see our filling section - [Cake Fillings].

Can we taste the cakes?       [back to top]
